Jason William Moore

Lance Corporal
United States Marine Corps

Cadet
United States Air Force Auxiliary, Civil Air Patrol

At the time of his "graduation" from Civil Air Patrol, Jason Moore was the longest standing cadet member of Squadron 47. He excelled at field activities and especially applied himself at the Squadron's visits to U.S. Navy SERE (survival) School.

Jason joined the Marine Corp in January 2001 and subsequently trained as a crew chief on the CH-46 helicopter. He was assigned to HMM-364, the Purple Foxes, and deployed to Iraq. Tragically, Jason's helicopter, Swift 03, crashed south of Baghdad on May 19, 2003. He is survived by his father, Bill, his mother, Gale, and his sister, Michelle.

Members of Squadron 47 and California Wing will always remember Jason as a "true" friend. His dedication to the Squadron 47 principles of "Discipline - Teamwork - Honor" extended beyond his CAP membership, and into his personal relationships. Let us not forget that attaining those ideals often involves great sacrifice.

We will miss him terribly.
